Well here I am, lighter by 75 lbs.  I am not to my desire weight, but I am getting there.  I  tried several different diets, and methods, and some worked, some I did lose weight, but I couldn’t keep it off. Avoid bread

The truth about Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates rarely make any nutritionist’s top 10 list for the best fat burning foods, and there’s a reason for that. Carbs play a tricky role in digestion, lowering and raising your blood sugar levels based on how many sugars they contain and bonded together in which fashion.

You need to figure out your own level of carb tolerance to lose weight permanently, but fortunately you don’t need to be a scientist to figure it out. You just need to understand three basic principles: simple versus complex carbs, the glycemic index and how it affects your body, and your own metabolism.

Understand these basic concepts, and you’ll be able to make a much more informed decision with your diet, one that can lead to permanent weight loss.

Simple vs. Complex Carbs

To understand more about carbs and weight loss, it’s best to understand the differences between the different types of carbohydrates. First, you should know that all carbohydrates are made of sugars that are converted to glucose in the body.

Simple carbohydrates are composed of small molecules of sugar, such as fructose and sucrose, which are bonded together. They are digested rapidly and absorbed into the bloodstream quickly. Complex carbohydrates are sugars that are bonded together in a long chain; for this reason, they take longer for digestive enzymes to break into simple sugars for absorption.

Are you Constantly thinking about your weight? I was to when I started to lose weight. First you start thinking you are too big of fat, then you start thinking you need to lose weight, then the more you think about it, the more you want to eat to comfort yourself. Then next thing you know you are thinking about being too big again. And on and on.

There are steps you can take to get you out this self-destructive cycle and turn around the negative feelings that you experience.

When we are in these mind-traps we are habitually repeating thought patterns and acting on them without questioning where they come from and what they do for us.

A simple question such as: What will that do for me? It can often be the beginning of understanding ourselves better and our behavior. Approaching the problem in this way can be the first step towards doing things differently.

It works like this: a bad experience gives you the urge to go to the cookie jar and eat as many cookies as you can. But this time, instead of binging on cookie, ask yourself: What will that do for me?

If the answer is something like It gives me a treat, ask yourself: And if I have this treat, what does that do for me?; Again, wait for your answer, it may be something like, If I have this treat then I will feel appreciated. If this is your response carry on and ask yourself: If I get to feel appreciated, what does that do for me? Listen for an answer and keep asking yourself the same question, until you can go no further with your responses.

What you’re looking for is the higher motivation behind the behavior. Eating too many cookies. By doing this on a regular basis you will get in touch with what you really want and take your first step to controlling the food cravings.

6 Weight Loss Tips

Ask 10 people on how to lose weight and you will get 10 different answers. When I started my adventure in losing weight, I asked as many people as I could find how to lose weight, and of course I got just as many different reply, to the point that I really didn’t know where to start.

From my own conclusions, the following tips are about the best of the best on ways to lose weight:

1 – Exercise with a friend. It always is good idea to workout with a friend. Together you can be each others motivator. I hate exercise and when left alone, I am the world’s worst to get up and start moving. If you have a friend that help you get motivated to start exercising, the more you do, the better you feel. Maybe you have a friend that also needs to lose weight. You can motivate each other and even challenge each other.

2 – Watch what you eat – keep a log of what you eat. I used to have candy and chips laying around the house, and before i knew it, they was gone. Sometimes I didn’t even realized I had ate them, till I started looking for them and found the empty bag in the garbage. So, what I did to force myself to eat better, is to make a journal of what i ate. Before long I discovered I was consuming a whole lot more junk food than I care to admit. So tip #2 is to watch what you eat, and write down what you do eat.

3 – Eat fewer carbs. I used to love rolls, especially with hot butter. By cutting out all breads, yep, even toast, and pasta made a big difference in my weight. Just remember your biggest carbs is white bread, pasta and white potatoes. Cut those 3 items out and you will see a difference.

4 – Give up soda. I love colas, and by cutting those out and switching to water instead, I started to feel much better.

5 – Stop eating fried foods! That was one of my big downfalls, whenever I went out to eat, I always got stuff like fried chicken, fried shrimp, really anything fried. I switched to Grill or boil, and gave up the fried foods. You will see, it will make a big different.

6- Eat Breakfast. I used to sleep till I just had to get up, then rushed to get dress and zoom out the door, never thinking one second about breakfast. But on the recommendation of my doctor, he suggested getting up an hour earlier, sitting down and eating a nice breakfast. You body has rested thru the night and before kick starting it awake, it needs the nutrients and energy to wake up.

7 – Take it one day at a time, one step and try not to think about losing weight. Don’t weigh yourself everyday expecting to see a different right away. Losing weight takes time – it took a while for you to pack it on, so it may take a while for you to take it off. Think about a baby when it is learning to walk. They learn how to walk one step at a time. When they try to take more than one too soon, over the fall. – One Day at a Time!

Calories – Good or Bad?

Q. Is calorie a bad word?

A. No, it’s not bad—just misunderstood! Most people who use the word calorie simply don’t know what it means. Also, in my experience, most people to go pale at the mere mention of the word. Based on those facts alone, I would eliminate calorie from the English vocabulary if I could.

Q. Why is calorie such a misunderstood word?

A. The American public has been told, time and time again, that people who consume more calories than their bodies burn will gain weight. As I explain in The Diet Solution: Start Eating and Start Living, this statement is only partially true. All calories are not created equal; calories consumed from healthy foods and unhealthy foods are quite different.

Q. What exactly is a calorie, then?

A. According to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary (11th edition), a calorie is “a unit equivalent to the large calorie expressing heat-producing or energy-producing value in food when oxidized in the body.” In plain English, a calorie is a unit of energy released from the food you eat to power the body.

Q. How are calories “burned”?

A. The body needs energy from food—calories—to perform many functions, the most obvious of which are physical activity and exercise. However, the body also requires energy to function at the most basic level: to breathe, digest food, and maintain organs and systems.

Q. How many calories should I eat each day?

A. The short answer is “enough.” The calories you consume must provide enough energy for your body to perform all necessary functions and activities—and bring about optimum health. The long answer is that the number of calories needed varies from person to person and depends on weight, foods consumed, sleep, stress and activity levels, age, and a long list of other factors that affect metabolism. Q. Is it possible to eat too few calories?

For clients who have repeatedly followed such diets, I recommend high-calorie meal plans that will provide their organs with adequate fuel to repair themselves and regain healthy function. Most of my clients are surprised, at first, to see how much food they can consume on a healthy weight-loss diet—not to mention the high level of health that they can achieve.

Q. Hey, wait—didn’t you say that you don’t like the word calorie? Then why does the Diet Solution Program suggest calculating calorie requirements?

A. In the Diet Solution Program, calorie calculation is simply a means to an end. You use the ideal number of calories that results from the equation to determine the correct number of servings of each food type for each meal. That’s it—from that point on, you can forget about counting calories!

Q. If I don’t count calories, then how will I control my eating habits?

Easy way to lose weight now Tip of the day

I got good news and I got bad news.

The good news is I am losing weight, I have now lost 32 lbs.  The bad news is I still have a ways to go.  But every once I manage to lose makes me smile and glad because I know I can maybe help others to lose too.  I been following a guide on how to loose weight.  So, I am going to share you a few tips here and there. How often will I post these tips, I do not know.  But here goes:

Tip of the day:

Drink water and keep hydrated, add a twist of lime or some lemon  to zest up the flavor.  Actually I added a few mont leaves in mine I grew fresh out of my little garden and it is quite delightful.

I used to drink almost nothing but diet sodas, but I have wrenched myself away from the sodas (on the advice of my doctor, who says the fake sweetner in diet sodas is about the worst thing I could possible put in my body) and so I have switched to water.  I think with the switch I seem to ahve more energy.  Maybe the artificial sweetner was zapping my energy, or maybe it the weight I have lost.  Whatever it is, I feel great.

So, my official tip of the day is drink water, lots of water, and if you are still drinking those diet sodas  Stop it!  Trust me you will feel much better.

I hate the word diet

I hate the word diet, from the second I say the word I am on special alert to reject anything to do with it.  So that is why when I decide to loose weight, I avoid trying the typical loss weight quick type  programs.

There are almost as many weight loss products at this point as there are stars in the heavens. But is the fast weight loss that they promise really guaranteed? Can these products live up to the promise of a healthy, fit body?

And what about the long terms?  I know just watching the news, you hear about celebrities gaining weight, then it seems they lose weight within a few weeks, then the next time you see them, they have gained it all back.   I was determined to find something to not only lose weight, but to keep it off.

I should mention that even though mentally I wanted to loose weight as quick as possible, and as easy as possible, the truth is, it took years to get me to where I am now, and realistically it may take just as long to get down to what I desire my weight to be.

I read somewhere that in the US alone, an estimated 50 million people try to lose weight annually, but only about 5% are successful. The promise of a “magical way” to lose weight is too enticing for some and the result is plenty of money spent on products with little result.   There are a lot of fads that seem to pop up, and some really weird methods.  Someone suggested to me that they had used electric shock therapy to help them loose weight.  Might have been good for them, but I decided not to go to that extreme.

Why I decided to lose weight

A few months ago I was at a county fair with my friends.  When you go somewhere with your friends, you don’t think too much about your personal appearance, and they pretty much accept you for who you are.  So as it was on this fun filled even out.  After playing several games and riding thrill rides and screaming our dear hearts out, we came upon oone of those weight and age booths, you know the ones, where some guy is yelling into a microphone that he can guess your weight and age to within so many lbs, (in this case it was within 5 lbs) or if not, you get a prize.   Each of my friends let him guess their weight, and their average weight was around 117 lbs.  But then it was my turn for him to guess my weight.  He guessed me at 298 lbs!     I told him no way do I weigh that much!  Well, needless to say when I stepped up on those scales for everyone to see how much I actually weighed, I weighed in at 285 lbs.  I did win a prize, but I also decided at the moment to do whatever it takes to lose weight!!
